The NELCDC's Community Champion Award Gala serves a two-fold purpose. For the NELCDC, the gala serves as the corporation's annual fundraising event. The event is used as a vehicle to attract additional donors to fund the NELCDC's mission. The gala also pays homage to an individual or corporation that has made a positive and consistent impact to communities in the city of Lubbock .

The 3rd Annual Community Champion Award Gala took place on May 8, 2007 @ 7pm at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center .
